"I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that I can't believe you anymore."
Its a simple enough word. Some people just do not understand the gravity that lies behind the word. Trust all in all is the placement of confidence in another to fulfill their promises or keep to their policies. Simple enough? Who do you trust? Your family? Your friends? Or more importantly, who do you trust the most? There's no accurate scale of how much trust you can place in a person. Its assumed that you will always place the most trust in your family, followed by friends, and occasionally, a person that's more than a friend. As trust is an investment, the more you invest, the more you get back. No?
Sadly, it works both ways. The more you invest, the more you stand to lose. Lose what you say? What exactly do you lose when you invest trust in a person who does not abide by it? Maybe family ties. Maybe friendships. Maybe relationships. Maybe even just a bit of your sanity. Now, what makes trust so strong that it may sever these bonds when it is not respected?
Because it is an investment of the soul. Trust binds people together. It connects them so strongly that almost every aspect of their lives can be shared with one another. Yet some people can break the trust placed wholeheartedly in them as easily as you can snap a twig. Snap. And the trust, the belief in that person flies out the window, and in flies hate, resentment, anger, irrational behavior. So next time, someone places their trust in you and you consent to it. Try respecting it.
